Measurement - Capacity/Volume

Last week Room 20 began our Measurement Maths.  We learnt mls and litres and thoroughly enjoyed using the containers to estimate how much water they could hold and which container held the most water.  This week we continue to explore measurement and will learn other units to measure length, weight and distance.  We love Strand Maths and doing the hands on activities.

Holiday Birthdays

Three Room 20 children were lucky enough to celebrate their birthday in the holidays - Happy 7th birthday Amelia, Happy 8th birthday Sithum and Tom.  We enjoyed hearing all about your special day when we were back at school.

Drip Drip Drip!

Today we had sooo much fun!  We had our Ignition day for our Inquiry topic about WATER - and boy there was water everywhere today!  We we wearing our house colours and paired up with our buddy class Room 6.  The whole school met at 11:00 for some Jump Jam to warm us up.  We then went to our first activity with Mrs Allen and Miss Scadden.  It involved moving water from one bucket to the other bucket.  We then moved on to the next activities for the day.  Here are a couple of photos and more will follow soon.

Welcome back to Term 2!

Welcome back for a fun and exciting term ahead.  It was lovely to see the children full of beans and excitement today.  I enjoyed hearing all about the holidays, birthdays and plans for this term.

Easter Hunt

Despite the rain we decided to still have an easter hunt with our Room 6 buddies.  We had to find the 6 coloured clues and help our little buddies to colour in the easter picture.  Once we had successfully found the right clues and coloured we got to find our easter baskets!

Community Cloth

Today the Year 4 classes finished their piece for the school community cloth.  First we had to draw our Kiwiana/NZ symbol with pencil and paper.  Once we had practised a number of times and perfected our drawing we were allowed to engrave the drawing onto a meat tray.  This was our print tile.  We then had to choose the colour for our print and how we were going to set it out and print it onto our square.  Once these were dry we chose a contrasting colour and painted around the outside of the cloth.  Vivid was added as the finishing touch to frame the print.  We are really looking forward to seeing the cloth all sewn together and displayed in the school.
